Hello,
I would like to request the SD card image for my Kobo Aura Edition 2 (model N236).
I'm facing an issue after a factory reset. The initial problem was that my device was incorrectly detecting my Wi-Fi as a captive portal, which I believe was due to the old firmware.
I attempted to manually update the firmware using the files from pgaskin.net, but this has resulted in a black screen, effectively bricking the device.
Here is a summary of what I have tried so far:
Factory Reset: I can still successfully perform a factory reset. After the reset, the device boots up, but I'm back to the original Wi-Fi/captive portal issue.
Firmware Update Attempts:
I tried installing the latest firmware kobo-update-4.38.23171.zip. After the "Updating..." screen, the device reboots to a persistent black screen.
I have tried this with the firmware for both the V1 and V2 versions of the Aura Edition 2, with the same black screen result.
I also attempted to install an older firmware version, but the result was the same.
SD Card Cloning:
Suspecting a corrupted SD card, I performed a dd dump of the original internal SD card right after a successful factory reset.
I then wrote this image to a brand new, known-good SD card.
Unfortunately, when I try to apply any firmware update to this new card, I encounter the exact same black screen issue. This suggests the problem lies within the base software image itself.
At this point, I believe the only solution is to flash a clean, known-working SD card image. Could you please provide me with the link to the SD card image for the Kobo Aura Edition 2 (N236)? If possible, I would appreciate having access to both the V1 and V2 images, as I am not 100% certain which hardware revision I have.
Thank you very much for your help!
