When you click on the app from the menu does it just hang?

Did you create the file.app within Windows? I remember having issues with app scripts created in Windows Notepad not working correctly due to different end-of-line (EOL) characters used by the text editor.
If you are using windows, install the text editor "Notepad++" and set "EDIT > EOL conversion" to "Unix" for your file.app.

I've attached the file.app from my device which seems to work... testing this will rule out the EOL character issue.
