The issue is that the factory firmware on a Kobo Glo is too old to have the SSL security needed now so it is unable to connect (TLS??? What's that?).

You can either set it up with the Kobo Desktop app (if it is available in your area) or by downloading the latest firmware using the links on Patrick Gaskin's Kobo Firmware Downloads page. Once you have the downloaded file, unzip it and copy the KoboRoot.tgz & manifest.md5sum files and the upgrade directory to the .kobo directory and safely eject it. It should then update to the latest firmware and be able to connect to your WiFi to register, etc.
