I have already tried everything, plus measured the voltage of the battery - after multiple nights of having it on USB power, it's at around 4,3V (measuring the conductor next to the battery connector). It does barely decrease when the device tries to power on.
Powering on the device does not show any signs of life on the display. The only thing that happens is that the LED lights up, that's it. Connecting the device to Windows reveals it registers as 'SE Blank MEGREZ'. This also disconnects when I press and hold the power button, and re-appears if I hold it again.

I suspect and hope it's just the microSD that decided to die, as also trying to image it with Win32 DiskImager throws the error "data error: cyclic redundancy". I ordered a new microSD arriving tomorrow, which I could put a known working image on.

Do you happen to have a good disk image for board 37NB-E60QF0+4A3 (SN 753x27xx)? (Preferably stock, but something modded/rooted whatever is also very much fine)

Hoping to be able to revive my eBook reader and reducing e-waste... Thanks a bunch from Germany!
Update for anyone who might stumble across this via Google:
Using a "fresh" image provided by Waldy on a brand new SanDisk High Endurance card still did not work.
I even attempted using a new battery from Amazon and it has the exact same behavior: The device does not boot, it just lights up its LED and the screen does not change at all, while reporting as "SE Blank MEGREZ" when connected to a Windows PC.

Will post or edit this post in case I got it fixed somehow, maybe Waldy still has another idea. 🤞
