What is the role of the svg filter?
I presumed that because the Metal_Filter.svg file contained the entry

I should see something red or at least reddish in the Preview pane when the Section0001.xhtml file was selected (before attempting any edit).
No matter which file I select, I never see any hint of red in Preview so what would I expect to see if the color was changed to blue or whatever?
What do I need to do to see the effect of the flood-color in the SVG filter file?
(since it's not April 1, I suppose it's not a question of the 'Emperor's new clothes'
)
