That is why you hold the power button for 20 seconds. This should force your Aura E2 into a powered off state regardless of what the screen shows. Remember that an eInk screen is bistable, you need to write to it to change it.

I would suggest following the procedure in the Suggested recovery procedure. Remember to allow it to charge for an hour before starting and leave the power cable plugged in during the procedure.
