Actually, I too felt rather shy and intimidated when I first joined the forum in May 2007. I can see that newer members may feel the same, particularly as the lounge has now developed a mythology all of its own.
(Perhaps someone could make a sticky thread explaining the curious allusions to improbable beverages, socks, etc. This might help people to find their bearings. I must admit that I occasionally lose track now and then.)
And do bear in mind that a member can add a "serious" prefix to any lounge thread and politely request that it stays on topic.
