Ah. I guess what I was trying to do isn't really possible then, because I specifically am looking for an automatic solution.
And since this is just for throwing weekly chapters of webnovels onto my kindle for comfortable reading, it's not really worth putting more effort into this.
On the other hand, if I *did* want to put in the effort, I suppose a plugin to search through the text and wrap a span around characters with missing glyphs shouldn't be too hard.
