USB C plug is a good standard but what it's capable of varies and you can be caught out. For example my laptop has several usb c ports only one of which is capable of charging the laptop. I've not tried plugging the power into the other ports but it not charging is the best I could expect and frying the motherboard and causing a fire the worst.
