Question about the different SD card image versions
Hello all,
I just bought a sold as faulty Libra2 - when it arrived it had the flashing white light, and wouldn't load even when I tried to manually reset it.
I was very kindly provided with an SD card image (throught the image thread) so I could try a new SD card.
I've got a version E.
I put the image provided on a 256gb samsung evo card - I did have issues when extending the partition - it turned out the folder holding the affiliate file was currupted. I managed to delete the file and replace it with one from a previous libra2.
I managed to swap the SDcard successfully - nail-biting though :-). The OS loads up great, but I've found that the Libra 2 won't connect to wi-fi, it can find the different networks but it simply won't connect.
I managed to set it up via Kobo Desktop, tried to upgrade it to the latest firmware, but it refuses and stays on 4.32.19501. So, I figured, that's ok - I can run it old-school and connect to a PC to update my books.
So, I go to add Koreader as I usually do on a new install. But I can't seem to install the OCP Koreader package or nickelmenu (making sure to add the config file for this too) alone.
I extract them to their correct folders, the reader re-starts as it should after ejecting. But no sign of nickelmenu shows.
Admittedly I bought a faulty Libra 2 unit, so It could be only this, but the inability to install nickelmenu or the OCP koreader package feels weird.
With the issues I had with the original version E image, I wonder if another image will do.
I know that there are other versions of the image files because there are differences in the power management systems - is it safe for me to try another image - one I know works, but is a different version?
Or will I screw things up even worse?
What do you think?
Many thanks
