Thanks. I would abandon it as well, but the font is otherwise perfect for me.
The Supplemental Font idea should have worked, but it doesn't. There must be an entry under U+2009 rather than a null. I'll try deleting that character. Also, Rakutan Serif seems to be the only font that properly displays that character.
(For some reason, my Supplemental Font was set to AR UDJingxihei, even though I have never viewed an Asian font.)
If that doesn't work, I suppose I could just delete the THIN SPACE from the book and deal with the visual of '", which I wouldn't mind.
