There are no alternate firmware installs for the T1 that I would install.

The T1 being old and slow has some issues. One thing you need to make sure of is that the ePub you send to it is error free. Also, you need to make sure that hi-res images are not hi-res. If the images are too large, they can cause a slowdown, lock, or crash.

Try plugging the T1 into the computer. If you can see the T1 on the computer, copy all of the ebooks. Then delete them off of the T1. It could be a problem with that ebook it's trying to open. If the ebook that's the T1 is trying to open is. On an SD card, remove the SD card. In fact, if there is an SD card, just remove it for now.

Try a different USB cable, different USB port, different computer, and maybe a different OS such as Linux. You can create a bootable Linux on a USB stick and boot that and then try to plug in the T1 to see if you see it.

If when you do plug in the T1 and you do see it before it reboots, try to delete this ePub that keeps trying to get loaded if you can.

If none of this works, you can try one last thing. Go the the following thread and download the bootable sad card image and see if that allows you to get your T1 up and running. If not I'm out of ideas and you'll need a new Reader.
