I used Sigil to remove the font obfuscation and extracted them from the ePub. When I attempted to open the 3 font files with FontForge, etc., the files were stated not to be valid font files. I also noticed that the files were a lot smaller than I would expect from a font file with a reasonable number of glyphs.

I downloaded the regular, italic and bold variants and replaced the existing font files with the downloaded one and the embedding seems to work happily enough now except for the weirdness of having the oblique entry when oblique is not used and the S-EB id which is used in every file.
