Ah, the prescription drug dances. My 94 year old mom lived on her own up until this past March. She is on some maintenance drugs for blood pressure and cholesterol. Her insurance is good, so she paid nothing for her meds, and they were all delivered by mail order, in 90 day supplies.
Now she is in a nursing home. Which means she is forced into using the pharmacy they use. Which means it now costs her around $60 per month for these meds. Which is nothing compared to the average $9,500 per month for her stay there. Her money will run out in about 6 months, then she will be on Medicaid.
It's been a stressful 8 months.
