How is the Sage battery - will it suffice for 20 hours of reading with backlight set to 20-30% max? My intention is to have a screen that would be most similar to a paper book in size.
What paper book in size? Hardcover? Trade? Mass market? All the standard eReader sizes are similar to some paper book size. Here are some dimensions assuming the screen is 4:3.

6" - 3.6" x 4.8"
7" - 4.2" x 5.6"
8" - 4.8" x 6 4"
10.3" - 6.18" x 8.24"

Keep in mind that's just the screen dimensions and doesn't include any bezel.

Yes, the 227 PPI Elipsa will be a bit less sharp than the Libra 2 or Sage.
