When it came out I followed the customer reviews on Amazon. It hovered around ~ 2.9-3.0 it seemed like. I just checked and the average is up to around 3.5. Sorted by most recent reviews, the incidence of yellowing of the screen seem notionally less, so maybe they've made some improvements, but there are still some 1 star reviews even recently. For comparison, the paperwhite signature has a solid 4.6 rating in customer reviews.

Yeah, I don't get it either. The Colorsoft SE was more expensive than the Kobo Libra Color but at least has some unique things about it like wireless charging and auto light sensor that some people might care about. The non-SE just seems worse in almost all ways and is still more expensive for some reason. Only reasons to pick it are if you must go Kindle or absolutely detest the presence of page turn buttons.
