So, I've been using
Charis 7.0 for a month now.
After taking it through
SIL's TypeTuner to replace tabular numbers with old-style, and combined with Kobo's advanced font options, I find it to be a lot better than the predecessor versions without any font-level tinkering (better kerning, font proportions, etc.).
I assume this release makes all the previous versions and future font adjustments redundant?
