We had to switch to a non-native dialog on Windows (macOS was already that way) to prevent crashes with Add Existing. But you can drag your favorite folders from the right to the left, as well as set list view vs detail view (all will be remembered for next time--including sort order), but it's not going to match the Windows Explorer view point for point. The multiple thumbnail size choices will not be available for one. But you can right-click and show/hide hidden files/folders.
