Yes I should have qualified what I meant by beds!!

It's a really old system of growing vegetables, I have a picture in a book that was drawn around 1565 it shows the town Wilton in Wiltshire UK and it clearly shows 'beds' being used to grow food.

To clarify the 'bed system' is when you take a plot of land and divide it into sections, each section measures roughly 2 feet (0.6 meters) wide by 6 - 8 feet (1.8 - 2.4 meters) long, this is what you grow in and they are surrounded by paths
