Around here, unless you drive up from one of the states in the USA that don't require insurance, you need to be insured to legally be on the road. Admittedly that has not stopped some idiots from doing so which is why ICBC basic insurance includes a standard uninsured driver option. ICBC will pay for your repairs minus any deductible and then may pursue the uninsured driver for reimbursement. One local idiot owes them ~$600,000 after stealing a vehicle and playing demolition derby. Sadly, his lawyer's attempt to claim that his client could not be held responsible for any damages failed. Evidently when the police arrested him, he blew about 4 times the 0.08 limit for alcohol so very impaired. Sadly the courts did not agree with the lawyer's theory.

Anyhow, all the excitement seems to be over and I'm heading back to bed.
