Yes, the "out of .48GB" suggests that something is definitely wrong! Even the oldest Kindle I ever used (a K4, from 2011) had much more storage than that. Unfortunately if something has gone wrong with the flash device's partitioning somehow (how?! you'd think any such failure would instantly brick the Kindle), I'm not sure anything recreates it, not even a factory reset.
