I use a mac and a kindle Oasis. I know it's old school but I download the epub, send it to calibre, convert and send it to my plugged in kindle.

I have a kobo. I got it to play with because I had hoped that the experimental browser might make it easier to get bookstore books into a reader. It worked but it wasn't easy at all. I went back to mac/caliber/oasis. Maybe someone with a newer kobo could comment on the browser because I haven't tried in at least 5 years.

Also, there's a great app called VoiceDream Reader that is able to access bookshare. It does text, text to speech and audiobooks. I keep it on my phone in case I get stuck somewhere and want something to read or listen to.
I don't swim much so the waterproof factor for a device has never been a concern for me so I'm no help there.
Good luck on your quest.
thanks for sharing your experience! I wasn't sure if I was just trying to stay in my comfort zone w PW. Have you tried using this link to send it? That's what I did the other day and curious how easy it is compared to using Calibre or if you like it to organize books. https://www.amazon.com/sendtokindle

Not looking to buy a subscription to VoiceDream now but maybe in the future. Does it have normal speaking voices? I can't listen to the computer generated voices on BookShare.
