The reality is they can't even g'tee that what they tested yesterday still works after an update today. To a small extent this is true of all phones and tablets, but common with eink.
Even apps that work often are very poor on eink. It's not just response time, which is rubbish, but partly to do with how an eink display is updated. It's best for reading mono reflowable novels, either on a dedicated system, or if Android, the bundled / built-in ereader app.
