Only DRM free ebooks (PDF, Topaz, mobi/azw/KF7, dual mobi, azw3/KF8, KFX and some others.

Calibre is not needed if they are already DRM free.

The azw3/KF8 is usually closest to what was uploaded to Amazon by a publisher and closest to epub you convert with Calibre, so in that respect is best.
