Kindle for Android new release--dictionaries

I use Kindle for Android on my Samsung tablet, which is using Samsung's version of Android 14, and on my Pixel 6A phone, which is running Android 16. I read primarily books from public libraries.

Amazon pushed release 8.125.0.100 to my tablet and 8.124.0.100 to my phone recently. Since then, I cannot change the dictionary I use when reading books. When I try to select a different dictionary when looking up a word it presents a list of dictionaries, but selecting a different one has no effect. (I like to select either the American English or UK English dictionary, depending on the book.)

The new interface has no option for downloading a different dictionary as it has for years now.

Even more strange, reading the same book on the two devices, on one device the only dictionary it will use is "English (UK)" while on the other it is "English (US)".

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks.
