For the record, I have this very same issue. The battery died on me and my Kobo Libra H20 only worked when plugged in. I thought it was the battery so I bought a replacement (Aliexpress). I soldered it and the ereader turns off while charging and the battery doesn't last for more than 10-15 minutes.
I ordered another one from another vendor at Aliexpress and the new battery performs in the exact same way as the previous one so either I'm just unlucky or the Kobo is faulty.
I decided to stop spending money on the Kobo. I'm tired of trying to fix it as I've spent over a month with this and it's beginning to be one of those cases where it's better to move on. I'm pissed about this, that for sure. It was not cheap by any means.
Now what to buy to substitute it is another thing...
