Please forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question, but I have acquired a Kindle 3, and I am wanting to get my epub collection transferred to it. Stock firmware doesn't allow this. I have searched this thread and others, and I've seen conflicting information about the possibility of this and/or the requirements. From what I can guess, those who were successful are reading with either FBReader or KOReader, but no one seems to mention how the epub files were transferred to the device (wifi/USB, Calibre/syncthing/direct-transfer?), nor if they are put in a different folder from the rest of the ebooks, to somehow trick the firmware into allowing the transfer.

This thread has, I think, two references to successful epub reading on a Kindle 3 or 4, and I would greatly appreciate any confirmation of process. I do my own Linux server maintenance, so I'm not afraid of a command line, if that's needed. Just looking for pointers, to get me moving in the right direction.
