I think there's only been two elections I've not voted in. Irregardless of whether I think too many politicians from different parties hold the same views or not, it's something that I feel is important for me to do.

And I think you are absolutely right to do that - if we live in and support a democracy we should exercise our right to vote. Bizarrely, despite absolutely believing that to be the case, I have taken the personal, selfish decision that it's just not worth my time deciding between such similar offerings.
