SOLUTION: KOReader Apostrophe Spacing Issue (Extra Spaces After Apostrophes
)
For anyone encountering the irritating apostrophe spacing bug where KOReader adds huge gaps after apostrophes (like "don' t" instead of "don't"), here's the fix that worked for me:
The Problem: Certain publisher-embedded fonts contain incorrect character spacing metrics that cause excessive whitespace after apostrophes.
The Solution:
Open your EPUB in KOReader
Tap the top of the screen to access the settings menu
Select the second icon (looks like an A4/letter page symbol)
Navigate to: Style Tweaks → Text → Font Size And Families
Enable "Ignore Publisher font families"
The apostrophe spacing should immediately correct itself.
Optional: You can also enable "Ignore publisher font sizes" for more consistent typography, though results may vary depending on your preferences.
My setup: KOReader 2025.04 on Kobo Libra 2
Note: Unlike older versions, my KOReader installation didn't have separate "Embedded Style" or "Embedded fonts" toggles - the "Ignore Publisher font families" option handles this directly.
