The Cervantes has somehow got corrupted, as Renate suggested. A UART might not help much. You have tried a factory reset or fresh install of FW (if it allows either)?
I've used a debugger to convert a locked "tablet" from Win CE to Debian and convert a hotspot into something else, but I've no idea what commands you might give the Cervantes. However even in those cases I had support via real-time Skype (nearly 15 years ago when Skype worked).
