I've done it on many occasions. Some examples:
  • I've purchased my own copy of "The will of the many" after reading the library copy
  • I've read the library copies of "The way of kings" and "Words of radiance" and then purchased the full series
  • I found "The wheel of time" books 1-3 in a thrift store for €2 each. I bought them even though our local library has them
  • I bought "The expanse" series after reading the library copies because I like the covers
  • The list goes on...


In general if I want to read the book I borrow it from the library, if I want to have the book then I buy it. I never buy books with the sole intention of reading them. I'm THAT spoiled by our local library.

This year I've challenged myself to read more of my own books instead of basically living in the library, and I've even had some success with it.
