As far as I am concerned it is a "calibre" problem (from the Qt upgrade) not a plugin specific issue. I asked Kovid about it in a separate thread in the developers forum, he said there was nothing wrong with my code (which hasn't changed). Personally I haven't seen the issue/use the plugin enough to see the issue and know exactly which font(s) demonstrate the problem.

As for the workaround, use calibre 7.x which never had the issue. Then just hope that one day a future calibre upgrade uses a later version again of Qt that may have the problem fixed... absolutely nothing I can do about it.
