Are you sure you chose the correct Kobo Touch firmware? There are 3 different Kobo Touch models to choose from.
How old was the old firmware? If you update directly from 2012 to 2024 firmware, it may cause problems. You might get better results by updating the firmware multiple times, e.g. from 2012 to 2015, 2018, 2021, 2024 to reduce the odds of making too large of a firmware jump at once.
