I use Fastmail which has a masked email service. If I am not sure I will want to continue receiving a newsletter or using a service I create a masked email and use that. If I no longer find the newsletter or service useful, I can either block the masked email or delete it entirely and voila. They don't have my real email address and I no longer receive their spammy emails. Win for me, lose for them but who cares.

Thanks for the tip.
Although email newsletters aren't the biggest problem. There has only been one newsletter that kept coming even after unsubscribing several times and I ended that by requesting my account to be deleted at that web store.
The biggest problem is getting paper mailings. There are several (online) clothing stores where I've requested they cancel sending me their paper catalogues and mailings. It works, until I shop there again and it starts up again (being plus size the number of stores I can shop at is limited).
My other complaint is that you can sign up to mailing in seconds but if you want to unsubscribe it can take weeks. For paper mailing I can understand; the next one or two mailing might already have been printed. But for an email newsletter I think it shouldn't take weeks before they stop sending you those.
