I would like to get a Pocketbook to try them out, but their ancient hardware and old Carta 1000 screens on their non-colour models keep me from doing that. I hope they release some updated Verse Pro with a Carta 1300 screen.

The Pocketbook Inkpad 4 has Carta 1200.
I recall that the sharpness of the screen was better looking, comparing old devices, besides the Pocketbook Inkpad 840 (Li-Pol, 2500 mAh, 8” E Ink Pearl™ HD capacitive multi-sensor display, 1200 × 1600, 250 dpi) versus a Kobo Aura HD (6.8" WXGA+ Pearl E Ink Screen - ClarityScreen+: 265 dpi, 1440 x 1080 resolution).... meaning that the Kobo was slightly sharp (but it would be personal preferences, also) due the fact that the Pocketbook' screen was like ... glass? ...and not thin "plastic"? (i mean, too: is it possible that was glass?)
ALso the devices available now are for sure different,I'd loved both. The only thing I'd might not have liked from the Pocketbook's was those two pox buttons for turning the pages.
I like the scratch-resistant screen that's on Pocketbook Inkpad 4, and if I will change mine I guess that would be the choice.
