bustacap and myself have discovered Kindle for PC 2.7.1 sometimes downloads files in AZW3 format (which I mistakenly called "maybe mobi"). Those work with normal dedrm. Before asking me about a particular book, please check if it is KFX in the first place. There is no particular rhyme or reason, and even a comic book released in May 2025 might not use latest KFX.
Edit: I will open discussions on github for a bit. Do not expect it to last please.

What the DVDFab team did wasn't actually cracking the latest DRM, but rather a hack to download KFX files that had older DRM applied to them.
That's why I was thinking that KF8 (AZW3) might also be obtainable somehow. Because BlueStacks' K4A actually rejects KFX for some reason and can get a combination of KF8 (AZW3) and AZW6 instead.
I was thinking that if we could figure out the detailed conditions behind this "some reason," we could get KF8 (AZW3) and AZW6 even with the latest version of K4A. It's just that you did actually do the same thing on the K4PC.
Epubor must be thrilled to see your results.

I.e., what versions of Windows will this run on?

64-bit Windows can run 32-bit Win32 apps through WOW64 (Windows 32-bit on Windows 64-bit). K4PC doesn't provide 64-bit binaries. I haven't tested this yet, but the key extractor seems compiled for x64, which means it won't run on 32-bit Windows. Since there's no 32-bit version of Windows 11, if you try it on Windows 11, you should definitely be able to get it working.
