You may also want to open Preferences => Output Options => Kepub output and see if you have Prefer improved text justification to proper highlighting checked. If not, check it and resend the book to your Clara BW.
Also, being a bit pedantic, this has absolutely nothing to do with the epubcheck plugin. Perhaps the Devices forum would have been a better choice.
