First, if you had enabled ADB before your problem it would be easy to fix this.
That the elephant is rollerskating shows you that Linux is running but the Android subsystem has a problem.
If you had ADB enabled you could go to recovery easily.

Second, don't let the battery die. You could get any variety of data corruption.
That goes for any device.

Does a 10 second power button press get it to reset, flash the screen a few times and get you elephants again?
Try pressing the power button for ten seconds, release, then press it 5 times in the span of a few seconds.
Timing could be critical so try it a few ways.

I always have ADB enabled so that it pops up even before the boot animation (in my case, not elephants).

Please be clear on what you have. Is this a Poke6 or a Poke6S? They are two different types.

Poke6S is Chinese and we don't even have the keys for it yet.
So it would be good to get them before the device is turned into a Go6.
