Exclamation My IREX ILIAD (almost) lives again!

Out of a renewed interest in eBook readers lately I remembered that my first and only reader, the IREX ILIAD (1st generation, non USB) was lying in a dark dusty drawer and decided to try turning it on, unsurprisingly discovering its batteries were dead. So I tried JHarker procedure I found on this website to revive it, buying new batteries and replacing them. Now the Iliad is working again (as you can see in the video, it has to be renamed .MOV because I had to rename it to AVI or it couldn't be uploaded) but I am not able to update the power management program because for some reason it turns itself off after 20 seconds. I also need to check how to do that, long time has passed since I worked with hacking of this piece of history firmware.
Another thing is that the travel hub (the piece the connects the power adapter to the Iliad charging port) seems not to be able to charge the (already came charged at 3.78V) new batteries (the same was happening with the original batteries, but I thought it was because they were dead) so something is broken either in the travel hub, cable or Iliad recharge port, not sure what. I tested the PA with a multimeter and it correctly outputs the required 12V.
So I am asking if someone else has got a spare unused, possibly working, Iliad 1st gen travel hub in a similar dark and dusty drawer that could help me understand where the trouble is. If it works I can even think of paying a (small ) fee for keeping it (of course I'm paying for shipping too).

Anyone?
