i went looking for some youtubey cirque nouveau goodness and it's surprisingly hard to find, but then i remembered i had found some clips recently of les colporteurs ; they're not quite typical because it's a troupe only of funambules but the ambiance is right, so thought i'd just quote those posts. i also recommend the company
cahin caha (among others) if you ever get the chance to see them.
