My question is why is it taboo to say you don't like Kobo on this forum? I mentioned Kobo and Android because those are the two go-to platforms everyone talks about as alternatives to Kindle. Curiosity I could excuse, but this really is bordering on the cultish. I don't care when people say they hate Kindle or Amazon, nor do I feel the need to interrogate them. I could care less what device someone chooses to use.
Of course, I'm not a corporate shill, so maybe that has something to do with it?
I'm only too happy to fight, but no, I wasn't looking for one. I was trying to find an answer to a technical question. The fact that you can't stomach the phrase "I don't like Kobo" says nothing about me and everything about you.

I don't care at all what you like or don't like. I just find it strange that you wonder why people talk about Kobo after you introduced the topic yourself.
Of course it isn't taboo to say you don't like Kobo (or any other brand). It's just somewhat hypocritical to expect people not to respond to such a statement on a public forum. If you don't want a discussion about Kobo devices, don't mention them.
And FYI, not liking the distraction of something is not the same as not liking that something per se. There's a difference.
