Hi, Andy, I tried the ipconfig /flushdns again, twice: no help there, but I did discover a zillion proxy servers, making Feedbooks available at will.
Also did the Hosts file check and it only had two entries (127.0.0.1 localhost and ::1 localhost), indicating no virus according to what you say.
I do thank you for sharing your expertise and time. I sure learned a lot!
I note you have a 700. I almost bought one when they first came out until I read so many negative comments. I imagine it would be fairly similar to my Nokia, which I use daily...well, nightly since I seldom have time to read during the day and which is why the PRS-700 got my attention. I use my XO during the day, but am limited to FBReader.
It also costs me import duties of near half the cost of what I bring in so I tend to hesitate where once I would have leaped. Guess I'm stupidly waiting for the perfect reader, which of course will never happen. Maybe the rumored Apple table/reader!
