You should upgrade your Windows. Going back because your paranoid is a very bad idea. There's nothing to be paranoid about. It also means you won't ever get any new fixes or features in calibre. I have the latest Windows 10 and latest Windows 11 and they both work.

There is no reason not to update Windows. If you do, you should be able to run calibre 8.
