Try registering it with Amazon. If it doesn't register, you can't use WinterBreak with it. You can also contact Amazon Support with either the serial number or IMEI number and they can tell you whether it is blacklisted or not.

Stolen or lost are probably the two most common reasons for blacklisting. One friend of mine purchased a Kindle and it didn't arrive after a couple of weeks. He reported this to Amazon and they shipped him a replacement unit. About a week after the replacement arrived, the original Kindle was delivered with no explanation why it had been delayed. Since Amazon had told him not to worry about the original shipment, he opened the box and attempted to register it only to find that it was blacklisted as lost in shipment.
