OK, so a while back I smugly posted to say I could download from Kindle for PC 1.39 & convert to MOBI in Calibre. I should have shut up.
Specs—my Kindle is a KT4 running 5.13.6, permanently in airplane mode and able to read MOBI only. Kindle for PC has today updated to 2.7.1, I'm running Calibre 8.3 & DRM removal 10.0.9.
I tried today to use the new Kindle for PC to download a book, then open it in Calibre & try to convert it to MOBI. But now I'm getting a "Can't do this because DRM" message.
Reading through the thread, I think I should be trying to download the KFX.zip on to my Kindle then lifting the KFX file off the Kindle into Calibre—is that right? I've tried copying the KFX.zip file straight from my PC to my Kindle Documents folder, then opening the Kindle Documents folder's AZW file in Calibre but that doesn't allow me to convert it to MOBI either.
Is my only option to turn off my Kindle's airplane mode (I've got updates blocked) and sync to Amazon? I so don't want to do this—I worry that Amazon will screw up my carefully created collections on my Kindle (there are 50 "ghost" collections listed under my Digital Content online which Amazon can't explain or delete).
