K1, K2 & DX family: mobi/kf7 format and colour images if they are colour. K1 doesn't do PDFs. Amazon PDFs will be wrapped as a mobi. A KF7 format can download as .mobi or .azw (without the 3)
Updated K3 to PW1: azw3/Kf8 format and colour images if they are colour. Some very old titles may be in mobi. PDFs from Amazon maybe wrapped as mobi or azw4.
PW2 to current models (except Colorsoft): KFX format and mono images even if they are colour. Some very old titles may be in mobi. PDF may be wrapped as KFX.
Colorsoft: KFX format and colour images if they are colour. Some very old titles may be in mobi. PDF may be wrapped as KFX.
Scribe may get different KFX at times.
Some titles may only download to Apps. Some to Scribe or Apps. Some prehistoric titles may download as topaz. These can only be usefully converted to image based PDF (not sure by what).
There are a load of Kindle formats apart from reflowable text mobi/KF7, azw3/KF8 and KFX. Only those three convert well.
