I think you can delete it, but I never did that, because I like it better than the original. I don't remember if the battery drains more, because I installed it a long time ago. Nowadays the battery life is not as good as in the T3, because the replacements I installed (at a time when it was possible to find working ones) were never as good as the original sony ones.
I tried PRS+ on my 650 and it drained the battery big time. And now it's no longer supported I would forget it.
