The average number of years to complete an undergraduate degree is slightly more than 5. But the comments about cost would be key ones for my students (at a public university). Most start by looking to buy used copies of textbooks and many of them share textbooks. A few try to avoid buying a copy at all. Unless the cost of the e-version is less than the cost of a used copy, I doubt there will be much interest. And that's not taking into consideration other issues such as highlighting and commenting on pdfs.
