The problem could be that because the database format has changed in some newer versions of calibre, you could be having a problem going back to an older version that doesn't support the newer database version.

However, if your computer is able to run Windows 10 64-bit, then install that instead of an old Windows 7. Then you can run the latest calibre 8.
