PRS+ is a kind of addition to the normal firmware. It does not replace the original firmware (I learned this by using the link above .
I think you can delete it, but I never did that, because I like it better than the original. I don't remember if the battery drains more, because I installed it a long time ago. Nowadays the battery life is not as good as in the T3, because the replacements I installed (at a time when it was possible to find working ones) were never as good as the original sony ones.
